No Virus Please!
John always reminds and warns me not to download files from internet sites, especially those sites which I seldom visit. I really don't want to have any virus invasion ANYMORE because I have plenty such bad experiences before. Not only that I could not access to internet, I had to format my computer before I even had the chance to save all my important precious files. You all have the idea how frustrating this could be! S0 after experiencing all these lessons, I always make sure I have my antivirus program running properly. We all know, some antivirus softwares in the market costs us pretty good bucks but I try to look for free Antivirus program seriously before I have to spend my hard-earn money to get one!

Fortunately, at www.freeantivirusinfo.com, I managed to download the free Norton Antivirus software from Google, which is a reliable source everyone knows. With this program, all the viruses, worms would be scanned and removed from my computer. Besides that, John also downloaded and installed the Spyware Doctor for me, which he claims it will protect against the spyware while I surf.

I really wish my computer would be in great peace and protection for real real long time. No spyware no virus please!!! Hey ladies, make sure you all install these free softwares too before any bad virus invades into your territory!

Black Friday shopping
I know about Boxing day when I studied in Scotland. Boxing day falls on the day after Christmas. People will get so crazy, queuing up in front of the shops in the real early morning to buy good discounted items. I remember most of my girl friends did get some good deal on some branded handbag.

When I had my first Christmas in the states two years ago, I thought I could shop crazily the next day. Who knows, I found out that Boxing day is only a traditional event in UK or some commonwealth country. In the states, they do have a day like this, and it is called Black Friday. It is a day after the Thanksgiving.

Since I have missed Black Friday for the past two years, this year I will make sure I wont miss it again. Not only I won't miss it, I will actually shop smart and get most of the good deal I want. How? It's not hard at all! Black-Friday.net is here to give you all the best thanksgiving deals.

Yes, you can purchase black friday items online without the hassle of having to stand in line at the store at 5am and still be able to save money when shopping gifts for coming Christmas by buying items online during Black Friday.

Another good service black-friday.net offer is, email alerts will be sent to you when new black friday ads have been posted, so you will be kept updated with the best thanksgiving deals they have. I am so excited to find out JoAnn Fabrics ad is in black-friday.net as well! I bet I could get some good deal discounted craft kits and photo frame from JoAnn Fabrics at this black friday!

Today is Monday, yup! Today is 27th Aug, yup! Any special occasion for today? Not really! But... I have waited for this day quite some times! Why? Because... our (me and Lily) yarn orders arrive today!!!!!! Soooo excited man! UPS delivery guy was nice enough, knocked so hard on my door to inform me that somethings there for me! I grabbed the two boxes and rushed in to my house, within a minute, all these beautiful yarn were revealed right in front of my eyes!

I frowned right after I saw the Jaeger Baby Merino 4 ply Mint... hmmm... the color is abit off from what I saw online though... then I frowned again when I saw the Ella Rae, something wrong with the color too! Damn, why the colors are different??? I even checked on the receipt to make sure they picked the right yarn for me!!! Well, thats exactly what I ordered! Its just hard to believe, so I went to the website and look at the yarn color online... hmmm... Sigh, I will love them more, I will love them more (brainwashing hardly).

At least Crystal Palace Baby Georgia is yummy!!! They are in my favourite magenta. Look familiar? Yeah, I bought some Jeager Sienna back then in this similar colour too! Good deal for this yarn!!! Lily, want to get some more? hahaha~ *wink wink devilishly*

My First Pair of Mitten!
You should have an idea how bad I am in completing A PAIR of socks! So far, I only managed to complete 2 pair of socks, both are for DH. There are 3 single sock still laying deadly in a box. 2 pomotamus and 1 monkey. After having these valuable experiences, I know I can't get into mitten knitting, something that come in PAIR. But guess what, Gloria (my sister in law) convo me in etsy one day, told me that she wish to have a pair of THIS and she wondered if I could make them. Well, it is always a pleasure to knit something for your family, your love one. She said she will pay for that, come on! I won't want her money!!! Mitten? hmmm... ok! I will make Gloria a pair!

From what I saw on the photo, its not a difficult, complicated mitten pattern. So, I did not buy the pattern and I made them up myself. Gloria did not request a particular color for the mitten, so I used the left over gray patons classic merino wool. It is a very quick project indeed. Something you can finish in hours.

I don't want to deal with DPNs this time so I tried the magic loop method using 4.5mm circular needle. Have you tried this method before? I am really having fun with this! What a cool invention huh? Ok, come look at the mitten I am working on now, another few more rows to go! I believe they will look and feel better after blocking!

Should I knit a shawl? lacy shrug?
I will have my wedding banquet at November at Malaysia. Eventhough I haven't picked out my wedding gown yet, I am sure a shawl or a lacy shrug would be nice to go with the gown or my evening dress. Then, here comes the next question, should I knit them? Or I just buy them?

Hmmm..... I knitted a FBS last year, I really like it and I know for sure it will be more gorgeous if I use better quality yarn. Also, I like this lacy shrug a lot. I do, from Knitty which designed by Jody Prival. Most probably, I will buy some nice mohair wool yarn first, then only decide which to make! Hmmm... so indecisive ...

Here I post a picture of Jess from Ravelry, in her gown with her FBS and also a picture of Jody in her I do shrug. Which one you like better?

Get Well soon Dad!

My father in law was admitted to the hospital for his bypass heart surgery like 2 weeks ago. The surgery went smoothly and he moved to a regular patient room the next day. My FIL was very moody and down, he complaint about the pain badly. We all can feel his pain, we keep encouraging him to be tougher, bucked up and very soon he will be home again. But the first prescribed pain killer made him drowsy and having hallucination. This really made his condition worse, I mean mentally way. Eventhough Doc claimed that he is recovering well, my FIL was still feeling low and upset. After putting him on another type of pain killer, he felt way much better but then things went rocky again when doc told him that he needed another surgery. We were all in shock when we heard about it through phone. Believe me, we all had no idea why he had to go through another surgery and we really thought it must be something real bad had happened to him. We rushed our way to the hospital right after getting the news and my heart was beating so fast. John was very worried as well. I swear, those feeling are not good at all, its like, you don't know whats going to happen to someone you truely love and then there is nothing you can do at all. Luckily, it was just a minor surgery that he needed to undergo to check on his wound recovery. My FIL din't convey the right information to us and ended up we had such a roller coaster ride that evening. Anyway, after days of hospital stay, he is feeling much better now and we are looking forward to having him to go home this weekend.

The room he is staying now, has a very good view of Dallas downtown, we call that Million dollar view! I had my camera with me today and managed to take some pictures. Have you been to Dallas? This is how Dallas downtown looks like.

To support and encourage my FIL to have a speedy recovery, Gloria brought him a family portrait which taken in her wedding day. Everyone was there except ME, because I was still in Malaysia that time waiting for my visa approval. So... what Gloria did was.. next to the portrait, she drew a stickgal with long hair, who represents ME and also 2 doggies. They are Snooper and Coco. Snooper is the fatter terrier and Coco is the smaller chihuahua. You can see Gloria drew Coco peed because Coco does that always when she get excited! Can you see there is a lump on Snooper? Yeah, poor Snooper has this big lump growth on his back and my parents in law plan to get it removed soon. They both are such sweetheart doggies of my parents in law. My FIL misses them very much, he actually called home few days ago and left a voice mail so the doggies could hear his voice. Thats funny! Dad, recover and get well soon!!! We really really miss the rib and roast you cook!

My knitting progress is slow. Not only I spent some times visiting to hospital, I also spent much time exploring in Ravelry. I really have to speed up my knitting, better not to let Emma waits too long for her shrug!

Rehab in Malibu?
Nina came over to knit this afternoon so we had our girlie talk and good time. I remember that Nina used to hang out with a girl named Kathy, so I asked about her, wondering if she is in college now or doing something else. Out of my expectation, Nina told me that Kathy is now in Malibu. For vacation I said? Nope, she was actually sent there for a adolescent treatment program. Teen Rehab in Malibu, which provides holistic, state of the art treatment for teens with drug addiction, alcohol addiction, mental health and behavioral health issues. I know her family is doing the best for her and I deeply wish she will come back soon with a healthier person!

Again, I think about the severity of teenagers problem in Malaysia, I believe there are some useful teen rehabs or counselor center available, but comparing to a rehab in Malibu? A place that located near the ocean and nature? I guess the result could be very different.

Thanks for the comment!
I woke up quite early today because I wanted to call my mom up and have a good chat with her. We had a great chat for an hour or so. After that, I woke John up, dressed up myself and went to my LYS happily! Yup, they are having sales today, on ALL Rowan yarn from 20% - 75%! I never tried any Rowan yarn before, because it costs so much more than other yarn and I always have the yarn budget on hand. Remember? I am a jobless housewife at this moment. Anyway, I managed to get some nice yarn today. I bought 6 balls of RY Classic Cashsoft 4 ply, in Fennel. Wow, how could I not to love this yarn? They are just way too soft! Thanks DH for being so patient, waiting for me in the car while I was busy hunting for yarn. Then, we headed home after we had a nice lunch at Dickey's barbeque.

Everything was soo great and wonderful until I read a comment left in my previous post. Believe me, its real upsetting to read such comment but I calmed myself down after grumbling with DH and Lily. I din't delete the comment, indeed I would like to respond to her here.

Firstly, I want to say thank you for her comment and opinion. Also, thank her for reading my blog for some while I believe, eventhough I never read any comment from her before in any of my posts at all. I guess the paid post that I started recently really disappointing her or disgusting her, so she has her best advice left.

It is just impossible to please everyone right? I clearly remember why I started this blog, it is because of the passion I have for knitting. Besides knitting, I also share my life, my story with everyone. One more thing, I am very surprised and delighted that I actually have some knitters and friends reading my blog regularly. I deeply madly appreciate that. Especially for those who always leave kind words, compliments on my knitting.

But starting to blog for advertisers, doesn't mean I would stop blogging about my knitting, in fact, I have more knitting projects going on and I am very certain that I have been improving my knitting skill as well all these time. I won't say money is everything, but if I can use best out of my spare time, my capability to make some pocket money through blogging for some informative advertisements, I don't see that is a problem. Because at the very very beginning, I don't start this blog to please anyone but just myself.

It is like, you visit to a stranger's house and she welcomes you warmly and offers you variety of cookies and biscuits. It happens to be oreo is one of them and you hate oreo the most. I don't think you will tell the hostess to throw away all the oreo? Most probably you would be polite and choose over something you like, maybe peanut cookies with a smiley face!

Anyway, my passion to knitting will never change and I will always try to blog about my knitting. I appreciate everyone who drops by to read my blog. I sincerely thank them from the bottom of my heart. Most of the time, you might find some odd topic kind of posts around but I know that could be something informative to some readers. I never aim to make a fortune through blogging, afterall, all those hard earn money will be spent on yarn eventually. See where is this going? * Blink! * What I want, is just more more more luxury yarn like these ......

Bedroom furniture or Chest ?
I wish to do some home improvements so much but I just have no idea where to start. I painted the living room like a year ago and supposingly, I should renovate another two rooms, one into a guest room and another into my craft room. But but then ... I don't know what is holding me back and I have done nothing yet. (my laziness duh!)

Lately, I saw some nice home furnitures online at this Houston furniture shop named Gallery Furniture and I spotted one piece of furniture that I really really like. Well, what furniture piece you think a knitter always desires badly? To me, I want a CHEST to store all my yarn stash! Yup, I need a chest for my precious yarn! I want an antique white chest, something look like this! It is a five drawer white chest with crystal like pulls! It will go nice with all the paint color and also curtain. I want one! Look at it, don't you think it is so adorable and sweet?

But after giving it a second thought, then I think I should buy a bedroom furniture set for the guest room first since I plan to fly my parents over to spend some times in the states with me next year. The guest room now is totally a mess! Just too much work that I have to do with it, eg. paint the whole room, buy new furniture, curtain... So, I think I should make a wiser decision to get the bedroom furniture instead. Well, seems like I can't get any chest any sooner. One day, I will own an ideal chest I always want, one day!!! Be patient ok? My precious yarn!

Rough Blackie!
As planned, I am knitting the grey shrug. You know what, I have used at least 5 different color of Paton classic merino wool and I would say the black yarn is the worst among them all. I am talking about the quality, softness of the yarn. Do you think there is something to do with the dye material? The black yarn is much rougher than the rest. If compare, natural marl and grey mix are the softest one! It is soo obvious you know? When I CO using the grey yarn this afternoon, I just love the softness of it! Apparently, this will be a easier knitting project compared to the black one, especially at the cable sleeves part! I don't have to focus and strain my eyeball muscle badly as I did while knitting the black.

I went to the patons website, and they actually have new color in classic merino wool. Those are fun and sweet color to knit with. Lets take a look! Don't you like them? I think its good yarn choice to make colorful scarf! or even a plain simple sweater!

I ordered 2 knitting magazines from Phildar month ago during sales. These magazines came all the way from France and there are few projects that I really like. Come come and glance at them. I might pick one of them to knit for this winter. Which one you like the most?

British Gas Launches Greenest Enery Tariff

BRITISH GAS LAUNCHES GREENEST ENERGY TARIFF

9 August 2007: British Gas has announced it is launching two new green energy tariffs, Zero Carbon, which will be the greenest tariff available on the domestic market and Future Energy. British Gas has launched the tariffs, in response to the increasing demand for green energy products.

Householders signing up to the Zero Carbon tariff will:
• reduce their household energy carbon emissions to zero through Kyoto compliant offset schemes which will meet the new Defra requirements
• help fund a direct increase in investment in renewable energy generated in the UK
• contribute to the new British Gas green fund which will:
o invest in developing new renewable technologies such as wave power
o oversee a programme to help schools in the UK reduce their CO2 emissions

Gearóid Lane, Managing Director British Gas New Energy said,”Our new tariff responds to consumer demand for truly green energy solutions. It is essential that customers have confidence in green energy tariffs and that their credibility is not damaged by tariffs that claim to be green but in reality do not deliver any incremental environmental benefits. Green tariffs are moving from niche to mainstream products and we’re leading the industry by offering a tariff that will do more for the environment than any other product currently available.”

Under the government’s Renewables Obligation (RO), electricity suppliers in the UK are already required to produce an increasing percentage of their electricity through methods such as wind farms which, unlike traditional power plants, produce zero carbon emissions. For 2007/2008 this figure is set at 7.9%.

In a recent report, the National Consumer Council (NCC) raised concerns that some energy suppliers are packaging electricity which is produced under the RO scheme as “green”, yet it delivers no additional environmental benefits. The NCC called on energy suppliers to take steps beyond their legal requirements and offer green energy tariffs that provide genuine additional environmental benefits, in particular CO2 emissions reduction.

British Gas worked with Global Action Plan and The Climate Group’s “We’re in this Together” campaign to develop Zero Carbon which goes further than any other green tariff in meeting these requirements offering consumers the only zero carbon option on the market.

The tariff carries a premium of £84 per year, reflecting the higher cost of producing energy through lower carbon emission schemes.

Virginia Graham, Chair of Global Action Plan, said, “The British Gas Zero Carbon tariff delivers on all three of the essential requirements of a green tariff which are: additionality, transparency and verifiability. As such it is a very welcome new offering in the market. Consumers signing up to the tariff can be confident that they are getting 12 per cent more renewable energy than they would otherwise have got. The carbon emissions from their electricity and gas will also be offset with emissions reductions from projects accredited by the United Nations.”

Zero Carbon is one of the first initiatives launched through the ‘We’re in this Together’ campaign, which was launched in April 07 as an alliance of some of the UK’s biggest brands who are all working to help their customers reduce their impact on the climate.

Dr Steve Howard, CEO of The Climate Group and founder of ‘We’re in this Together’ said, “We’re committed to offering people ways to make a real impact on climate change through Together.com. We’ve worked with British Gas to ensure that Zero Carbon is a genuine step forward in delivering more environmental benefits than any other tariff currently available.”

British Gas’s second green energy tariff, Future Energy, offers an alternative green electricity tariff at a premium of just £20 per year. Customers signing up to this tariff will contribute to a green fund which will provide solar panels and other renewable energy technologies to UK schools. Money from the fund will also be invested in development of future renewable technologies and sources.

To sign up customers can call British Gas on 0845 604 0055 or visit www.britishgas.co.uk

Remember this tank tube I knitted? This tank is a combination work of ribbing, lace and cable
pattern. I actually knitted this tank for sales in my ETSY shop. Lately, there are few ladies request for its pattern and after few days of hard work, well, I was actually quite occupied with the shrug knitting, but I managed to write out this tank's pattern in PDF.

There is only one size in this pattern, due to the stretchability of this garment, it does fits bust size 32-37". You might want to alter the length of the body if you have larger boobs! It is all depends on how you want to wear this top! I personally think the best length will be somewhere on the hip bone! But you might want it shorter? to show off your sexy belly button?

3 different size of circular needles are required here. Using different size of needles, to give the shaping effect of this tank. The yarn I used is Patons classic wool merino, natural marl. Basically, you can use any worsted weight wool yarn you like. As we know, wool yarn garment always shapes out wonderfully after block, so I will strongly recommend that wool yarn should be used!

With the eyelet holes by making YO stitch, you can have a sweet final touch on the tank by attaching a ribbon through the eyelet holes. If you think thats too feminine, forget about the ribbon and you can actually upside down the tank and have the eyelet hole ribbing at the bottom!

Just another fun, simple and fast pattern to knit! Are you looking for a pattern to knit as a gift for a girl friend? You can consider this pattern! Also, autumn is coming soon too ( eventhough I am still suffered in the crazy heat here! harlo~ I am in Texas! ), its time to wear something woolie and yet sexy!

The pattern is now on sales for 5USD. I hope this pattern can be something you would like to keep in your to-do list! If you have any question about this pattern, please contact me!
