Valentine's Gift!
I can't believe that January is almost gone and I am still totally in the holiday mood. February is approaching and I really have to start thinking of what to get for John for valentines. I actually have an idea what John would like to have. I think a Ceiva digital photo frame will make a perfect gift.

I have been eyeballing on Ceiva digital photo frames for a while since Christmas. I am very convinced with the quality of this product and I like the 8" high defination display frame it comes with. Also, I am very impressed with the fact that you don't need the internet or PC to upload pictures to the photo frame. You just have to plug the frame to a phone line and you will be able to receive or send pictures to anyone around the whole world who uses the Ceiva digital picture plan. Well, if you are having hard time thinking of the right gift for your parents or grandparents, I definitely think Ceiva digital photo frame is something that will win their hearts. It is so easy and convenient to use.

Ceiva is offering a great promotion right now. You can get the digital photo frame with the price of $29.99 with the purchase of one year subscription of picture plan. I really think it is a very attractive deal and all the orders that made before 13th of February 2pm get the free ground shipping.

Happy Chinese New Year 2009

26th January 2009 is the first day of Lunar Chinese New Year of 2009. It is the year of OX. * Mooo Moooo *. This is the second year that I do not get to celebrate CNY with my family at Malaysia and I really wish I could go home for CNY next year.

Anyway, I did have a great reunion dinner with my family here this year. We all gathered and enjoyed the feast that I cooked at my parents in law place last Saturday. It has been a while that I did not cook any chinese food for them and I love to cook for my family. I started preparing the food on Friday night and got up real early in the Saturday to cook. I cooked fried rice, fried dumpling, braised pork with eggs, ginger onion swai fish and sesame sweet chicken. John had been very helpful in the afternoon frying dumpling and chicken for me.

We started the feast by 5.30pm and before we ate, John and I gave away Ang Pow (red envelope) with 1 dollar in it to my every family members. We gave slightly BIGGER ang pow to the kiddos with 5 dollar though.

It was indeed a very touching CNY for me this year as Rosanne bought some CNY theme decoration thingys for the reunion dinner. Some golden and red lanterns, a gold prosperity tree, some nice serviettes and a table cloth. Well, there are nice greeting words printed on the serviettes and table cloth,
"万事如意" which means everything goes your way and as you wish!

I am really thankful for the efforts that my family members put in in this reunion dinner. I appreciate the presence of Mike on that day as he just had his eye lasered the day before.

That was a nice dinner. Great food, good wine and margaritas!!! New Year New Beginning and New Hope!!! I wish we all could survive well through this sucky economy crisis and I could accomplish something or MORE this year!!!

恭喜发财! 万事如意!
财源广进!

青春永驻! 笑口常开!

A Nice Escape to Branson
Jenny lives at Chicago and she has been complaining about the cold weather so much to me. I have never been to Chicago but I know how cold and how much snow they could get up there. We talked on the phone again last night and she told me excitedly about her coming trip to Branson next month. Branson is located in Missouri and Jenny's husband got themselves a 3 days 2 nights Hilton Branson Escape Package.

Before I checked out more about Hilton Branson hotel, I went to the official site of Branson. Branson is an interesting place and I wish I could visit there one day. I want to go to the Dinosaur museum and Titanic Museum. These two attractions get very good rating overall. There is a Third Annual Ice Carving going on now and that is really something that I want to see! I bet Jenny will not miss this event.

The package that Jenny gets is really a good deal. Can you believe that staying at Hilton Branson hotel, a deluxe accommodations and it only costs $79.00 a night? It also comes with a complimentary movie and drinks for two and also breakfast! I am now jealous of Jenny! I might not need an escape from the winter but a nice weekend getaway is definitely nice! For those who need an escape from your boring lives, you probably should have a vacation to Branson! Book your stay now between 5th and 8th in February at Hilton Branson hotel for just $79.00 per night!

Pretty Rose Headband
I always have weakness for pretty hair accessories and lately I have been looking at many headbands online but I did not see anything that I MUST get until I saw THIS at BrookOwens's blog. I clicked in her ETSY store right away and bought one for myself. Well, to be honest, I spent more than 10 minutes to decide which color I should go for because ALL of them are simply elegant and BEAUTIFUL.

I managed to buy one and it arrived in time before Christmas. I was a kid then wearing my favourite headband two days in the row for Christmas eve and Christmas day when I visited to my families' places. I love this sweet felted white rose headband deeply and I am thinking to get another one. I am thinking about a BLACK rose ponytail holder. I might have to get Brook to custom make this for me! ( Hi Brook! Big Wave) -- She drops by my blog sometimes! hehe~

Oh, I forgot to tell you all that the headband arrived nicely wrapped in a box with gift wrapping paper and card! It made me smile from ear to ear like a clown! haha~ I like pretty stuff ok!!!

Handmade Silver Jewelry
I love jewelry and not necessary that they have to be expensive. I used to buy many silver jewelry when I was back home at Malaysia but when I come here, I tend to buy them online. I come across many talented and wonderful artists that make beautiful jewelry. Archmaille Designs is one of the sites that I love to go when I feel like adding something new to my silver jewelry collection. You might find something you like there.

Braised Pork and Sesame Sweet Chicken

I have cooked some real delicious meals for the last 2 weeks. That was not the first time I cooked braised pork, I got this recipe from a forum and luckily I still managed to find that forum after 8 months I did not log in at all. I think I put too much dark soy sauce this time therefore the pork looked too dark. haha but I think they still tasted very nice!!!

2nd dish is a recipe from Shirley. A very easy chicken dish to make and they taste fantastic! I overcooked the syrup sauce for 2 seconds I guess and there was abit of burnt taste in it. I will definitely make this again and they are really good!!!

Well, I will cook these 2 meals for this year CNY reunion dinner for my family at my parent in laws. I will also make some friend rice, dumpling, fish and vegetable!!! Happy Chinese New Year!

Are you paying any attention about the coming Inauguration day 2009? I believe that is definitely a historical moment as the first black President is elected. New president, new hope? I bet everyone can't wait to see all the changes in Reinventing America. I hope and I want the best for this country.

A Cold Afternoon...
John went in to work today and I spent a good whole day cleaning up the house, washing clothes, folding clothes. I know for sure that I get to do more when John is away at work. Not that I complain or dislike him working at home, but sometimes it will be nice that I can have the whole house for myself.

I went to the nearest 7-11 to withdraw money in the afternoon. Well, I just know that you don't get any additional charge withdrawing money from any ATM at 7-11. I was quite mad at John as he told me this THAT late. I used to withdraw money from Krogers or any nearby bank ATMs and those leech suckers always charge me 2-3usd per transaction. Imagine one months, you averagely have to withdraw money for about 4 times and here your 10 - 12usd dollars been deducted from your account. 12usd can get me 2 big balls of Paton Merino wool - 360m of yarn!!!

Anyway, weather was very cold and windy, it was around 36F. After withdrawing money, I drove to the Starbuck and got myself a cup of hot honey chai tea latte and also a piece of banana nut coffee cake. I had them to go. When I reached home, John was already home too.

I walked in to my craftroom with my hot drinks and the cake. I love a nice afternoon like this, drinking hot tea, eating a nice yummy small cake and looking at all the yarn I got! haha~ Sometimes, simple things like that can make my day! Just neglect those worries and put them aside! Chill~

I spent less then 15usd to purchase 3 big skein of lion brand fishermen wool which each ball contains 425m of yarn. That is really a great deal. Three 50% coupons save up alot for me and I have to say I love it! I got John orders the Sunday newspaper so I can start collecting coupons and buy cheaper stuff! I really like this fishermen yarn and I think they are good enough to make a nice, soft and warm sweater.

Dior 5-Color Iridescent Eyeshadow - Sky Glow

I really think I need to stop buying other eyeshadow or mascara or lipstick just to save up the money for either Dior or Chanel eyeshadow. They are really NICE!!! So silky to put on! I tried the new dior palette that Shirley got me and I have to say for sure that will not be my only or last eyeshadow from Dior. I have been eyeballing on other color eyeshadow palettes as I really really satisfied with their quality.

Well, economy is real bad and I am jobless. I have been thinking twice, more than twice on cosmetic spending lately. My piggy bank is half way full I guess. I need to look up all the coins in the house and feed my piggy bank well! Who knows, maybe I can get something for myself using that money on Valentine day~ Weeeee~

Addiction Problems
Every Monday, I watch Intervention. It is always sad to see how drug or alcohol addiction ruins someone's life terribly. But I am glad that there are many rehab centers out there ready to give you a helpful hand. Do you know anyone who has addiction problem? And you wish them to be clean and have their life back? You can make a change if you really care.

Promises treats addiction to a variety of drugs and substances, including: Cocaine, Codeine, Heroin, Marijuana, Methamphetamine, Oxycodone, and many others.

Not very often, clients may need the additional medical support available at a hospital. If this occurs, Promises will help make the necessary arrangements to ensure a seamless transition from our facility, to a nearby medical center.

Please do not give up on your friends or family members who have addiction problems. You can tell them about Promises Treatment Centers and seek the appropriate addiction recovery with them together. You can call to the specialists at Promises Treatment Centers 24 hours and 7 days a week.

Ginger Onion Fish Fillet

I bought some Swai fish from a vietnamese supermarket weeks ago and they actually taste pretty good. I bought some more again 2 days ago while I went to that area. I cooked some ginger onion fillet for dinner tonight and John likes it very much. Ah... I bet I could cook this better if I have a gas stove! I love fish. I want to try out the Crushed Pecan Grilled Salmon recipe badly, I think I will cook that next week.

Yellow Leaf
In tough economic times, making it from paycheck to paycheck can be difficult. I have many friends around are complaining daily how worried they are about losing their job and how badly the inflation rate is various times. For those who owing credit card or study loan, they are figuring out the best way to pay off the debt with the amount they can afford in the shortest time. Most of them try to seek for an appropriate aid to settle their debt problem but research has to be done before they decide which financial aid offer is the best. Sometimes, urgent incidents do happen suddenly and where can we get cash loan between our regular paydays?

Yellow Leaf Financial offers payday loans and cash advance services. At Yellow Leaf Financial, they are a different type of cash advance service provider. Their lending partners are here to help us in those times when we need cash between regular paydays.

You can quickly, safely and easily apply for cash advance or payday loan services from the comfort of your own home. Let Yellow Leaf Financial make the difference for your emergency cash advance need.

New Yarn Stash from Woolie Ewe
Surprisingly, I did not get any email from Woolie Ewe (my LYS) regarding their annual sale event. Thanks for the ravelry forum only I found out about it. The sales was on the Saturday after Christmas, which is 27th. I was very excited about it eventhough the discount was not as good as previous year. They only offer 35% discount for everything in the shop from 6am - 10am.

I managed to wake up at 5.30am and arrived there by 5.40am. (The yarn shop is very nearby my house) Very obvious that the line was not as crazy as last year. From what I read at the forum, many knitters think it is not worth to line up so early in the morning in such cold winter weather for only 35% discount. Well, I still think that is good deal eventhough I have no idea at all what yarn I want to get.

This time, I din't have to worry about John waiting for me too long in the car because I can drive like a maniac now. So I really took my sweet time wandering, looking at all the yummy yarn in the shop and be so careful on watching the budget I could spend on the yarn. We all were given a big white trash bag and within 40 minutes, I already have half bag filled up. I told myself that was about it and I have to leave.

There are 2 projects in my mind when I shopped there so I looked for specific yarn for that. My mom wants me to knit her a top from a Japanese knitting magazine and it is long sleeves lacy pattern top. She suggested to use brown or gold color yarn for the top and of course I will only use cotton yarn to knit a top for her so she can wear it comfortably in Malaysia. I got 12 balls of GGH Scarlett. They are yummy, nice sheen on it. I think that will definitely make a nice top. Another project that I want to do badly is the Vivian by Ysolda Teague. I bought 8 skeins of Berocco Ultra Alpaca in Orange color. The yarn is soo soft... I really can't wait to cast on for this project.

I also got some socks yarn. I know, I really should not have done that but those socks bugs are still in me. I bought 3 skeins of socks yarn. Also, I got a ball of Jaggers Zephyrs for shawl knitting. * wink * I always want to knit shawl using Jaggers and this time I pick a greyish blue color yarn. I have no any particular pattern in my mind yet but I will keep looking up for one now. Any ideas ladies?

That were what I got myself and I was in the line so ready to check out but one of the workers there came out with boxes and boxes of yarn and he said they are all 75%. Those boxes are about the size of shoes box. Few ladies and I move quick enough to start opening up the box and see what good stuff they have. Well, I added one more box of cotton yarn in my basket. 10 balls of cotton yarn for only 15usd. Nothing can beat that ok? I think the color is interesting and I should not have any problem to make something nice out of it. The yarn is in orange, pumpkin, brown n yellow. Very summerie color~ =)

Oh ya, my sista in law Diana bought me 6 balls of Nashua Vignette for Christmas. She did a good job in picking up the nice color. Green, purple, magenta??? Come on, you know thats my favourite color right? hahahahhahaha.......

Also, I bought like 20 balls of Patons Class wools from Michaels and Joann. They were like 40% off that time. I just wanted to stock them up in case I need some wool yarn to make something.

The Monday after the Annual sale, I went to visit Shirley in her place and we spent like 2 hours together. Anyway, after the pleasant gathering, I was supposed to go home and cook dinner but... my hands and my brain were not coordinating right. Rudolph (my car) and I ended up at Woolie Ewe (AGAIN) before I got home. I walked in and the workers there were as friendly as always, waiving and greeting me. My legs moved me to the Rowan section and I found out all the Rowan were still on 50% discount.

Well, not too hard to guess my dearie friends, I did leave the place with another 8 balls of Rowan 4 ply cotton in baby Pink. I tried to sneak in the house hiding the yarn in my handbag, but I bet John now has a very good nose, he can sniff the smell of yarn. hahaha~ What can he say? He can play all the games he wants while his lovely wife me has her own way to indulge herself in the yummy yarnie world~

Icy Freezing Monday

It was a cold rainy Monday. I stayed at home whole day and went no where. My plan was going to the mall and looking for Shirley at her work place but the raining weather made it not safe to drive. I think I had two cup of hot coffee that afternoon.

Around 5pm in the afternoon, I went out to check my mail box and the weather was colder than I imagined. Guess what I saw? There were icicles all over the trees and my mail box. I couldn't help but snap some pictures.

I love winter but not the strong wind blowing type of coldness. That can be annoying. Ah, it is already January and I guess I can only have another month or so of cold weather? I love winter...
